CBSE reduces the syllabus by upto 30% for classes 9 to 12, for the academic year 2020 - 2021

07 July 2020 : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced that it has decided to reduce its syllabus for classes 9 to 12 by up to 30% for classes 9 to 12, in order to make up for academic loss amid COVID-19 pandemic.


Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal, Union Minister for Human Resource Development said that the CBSE was advised to revise the curriculum and reduce the syllabus for the students of Class 9th to 12th. Looking at the extraordinary situation prevailing in the country and the world, CBSE has reduced the syllabus in such a way that the core concepts have been retained.


ICSE has also reduced its syllabus for the students of Class 9 to 12.


The board also mentioned that the teachers may explain the removed topics to the students to the extent required to connect with other topics.
